A multi-level mechanical parking structure in Amman — engineered and constructed by CEC to deliver high-density vehicle storage on a constrained urban footprint. Built to ease the chronic parking pressures of Jordan's capital.
Amman's rapid urban growth has placed enormous pressure on ground-level land, and nowhere is that pressure felt more acutely than in parking provision. As traffic volumes have risen across the capital's commercial districts, surface parking lots have become an increasingly inefficient use of high-value urban land. The Auto-Park Tower was conceived as a direct response to this shortage — a purpose-built multi-level parking structure designed to stack vehicle capacity vertically rather than consume scarce horizontal space.
CEC was engaged to deliver the full structural and civil construction of the tower, working from a design that combines conventional ramped decks with mechanical parking elements to maximize the number of vehicles housed within the building's footprint. The result is a structure that significantly increases parking capacity per square metre of site area compared to a surface lot of the same size — a critical consideration in a city where land values in commercial districts continue to climb.
Delivering a structure of this kind requires more than standard building construction expertise. Parking structures carry distinct loading patterns, demand careful attention to vehicle circulation geometry, and must integrate mechanical and electrical systems — lighting, ventilation, fire suppression, and in this case mechanical parking lift equipment — into a structural frame designed primarily for efficiency and durability rather than architectural ornamentation. CEC's First Grade building classification and decades of structural construction experience made the company well suited to deliver this technically demanding commercial asset on schedule.
The Auto-Park Tower presented a distinct set of structural and building-services challenges not found in conventional commercial buildings:
CEC's construction scope on the Auto-Park Tower covered the complete structural build: substructure and foundation works sized for the building's heavy vehicle loading; the reinforced concrete frame across all parking levels, including ramp decks and mechanical parking bays; floor slabs finished to the durability and slip-resistance standards required for vehicle traffic; vertical circulation cores including stairs, lifts for pedestrians, and ramp connections between levels; and coordination of mechanical ventilation, lighting, drainage, and fire-protection systems throughout the structure in collaboration with specialist M&E subcontractors and the mechanical parking equipment supplier.
As with all CEC commercial projects, the Auto-Park Tower was delivered under the company's First Grade quality management framework — with systematic concrete testing, reinforcement inspection at every pour, and structural verification of ramp and deck geometries against the approved design. Given the building's function as a high-traffic vehicle facility, particular attention was paid to deck finishes, drainage falls to prevent water ponding, and the safe sequencing of works around mechanical equipment installation to protect both the workforce and the integrity of the finished structure.
