Dams, trunk mains, water supply pipelines, pump stations, reservoirs, and wastewater networks — delivered by Jordan's First Grade water contractor since 1977. CEC safeguards Jordan's most critical resource.
Jordan is one of the world's most water-scarce nations, ranked consistently among the bottom 10 countries globally for per-capita freshwater availability. For a country of 10+ million people, water infrastructure is not a convenience — it is a national security imperative. Every kilometre of pipeline, every cubic metre of reservoir capacity, and every dam completed represents a critical improvement to Jordan's ability to meet its population's fundamental needs.
CEC has been building Jordan's water infrastructure since the 1980s, working directly with the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, the Jordan Valley Authority, and international development finance institutions — including the World Bank, the European Investment Bank, and the Islamic Development Bank — that fund Jordan's water sector capital programme.
Our water engineering capability spans the full cycle of Jordan's water infrastructure: from major dam structures that capture and store winter rainfall in the Jordan Valley, to the trunk mains and distribution pipelines that move water from storage to treatment, to the pump stations that overcome Jordan's challenging terrain, and to the wastewater collection and conveyance systems that protect groundwater from contamination.
Holding First Grade classification in Water and Sewerage Works, CEC is among Jordan's most qualified and experienced contractors for the Kingdom's most critical infrastructure programme.
From Jordan Valley dams to Amman water networks — CEC's water portfolio spans the Kingdom's most critical water infrastructure.
Jordan's dam projects are among the most geotechnically challenging construction works in the Middle East. The Jordan Valley — also known as the Ghor — is a complex geological environment characterised by saline groundwater, highly variable soil conditions, seismic risk, and extreme summer temperatures exceeding 45°C.
CEC has delivered two major dam structures in this environment: Al Karameh Dam and Al-Kafrain Dam, both for the Jordan Valley Authority. These projects required detailed geotechnical investigation, carefully designed impervious cores, instrumented embankment construction, and rigorous quality control throughout.
Our dam engineering expertise includes:
Water transmission across Jordan's terrain demands precision pipeline engineering. CEC has laid large-diameter steel and ductile iron mains across some of Jordan's most challenging topography — from the highlands around Amman to the arid Badia region in Mafraq Governorate.
Key pipeline construction competencies include thrust boring and horizontal directional drilling under roads and utilities, trench excavation and backfill in rock and difficult soils, pipe jointing and cathodic protection systems, hydrostatic pressure testing, and full commissioning and handover to water authority standards.
Jordan's water distribution network relies heavily on pump stations to overcome the country's substantial elevation changes. CEC's electromechanical capability — which carries its own First Grade classification — means we construct pump stations as fully integrated civil and mechanical works, without the quality and coordination risks of splitting the contract between separate civil and M&E contractors.
Our pump station delivery includes:
All CEC water and sewerage construction works comply with the applicable standards and specifications of Jordan's Ministry of Water and Irrigation, Jordan Valley Authority, and Water Authority of Jordan, as well as international design standards referenced in major project contracts:
CEC's quality management on water projects is systematically documented, with independent testing of all concrete, pipe joints, backfill compaction, and hydrostatic testing protocols recorded and presented to client engineers and supervision consultants throughout.
